The Nightingale Healthcare Management Team
Andrea Leebron-Clay Bio
A force to be reckoned with, Andy is an active partner/owner and Clinical Nurse Liaison for Nightingale Healthcare. With her husband, Jim, she founded the healthcare management company in 2014 after nearly three decades of clinical and managerial experience in various sectors, including skilled nursing, long-term care, and acute care hospitals, to name a few. At Nightingale, her team looks to her for big picture vision and cultural strategies, including pathways to enhance staff retention, person-centered care, organizational culture and values. She is viewed as Nightingale’s “mother” and plays the part well, known and loved by all of facility staff and residents alike.
With a hands-on clinician approach and academic mind, Andy brings nearly four decades of professional experience to her team. She holds a plethora of certifications and degrees, including a BSN, University of Arizona; MSN in Nursing Leadership, University of Arizona; Clinical Nurse Specialist, Geriatrics; Certified Rehabilitation Nurse (CRRN); Licensed Nursing Home Administrator; Certified Trauma Treatment Therapist; Emergency Medical Technologist; and a MA in Sustainable Community Development, Goddard College.
Just as dynamic in her free-time, Andy volunteers as a firefighter/EMT with her local fire department (Bow, WA), is a support officer (Skagit County), a CISM volunteer (Skagit County), in addition to being a dog lover, hiker, avid reader, writer and adventure seeker.
She resides with her husband, Jim, and has seven grown children, 12 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren (with three more on the way!).
Jim Clay Bio
As the proclaimed “Grand Poo-Bah” of Nightingale Healthcare, CEO Jim Clay offers daily doses of leadership, mentorship, and more than 50 years of professional, business experience to his management team. Together with his wife, Andrea, their healthcare management company owns and operates six skilled nursing and assisted living facilities throughout Washington State, including Mt. Baker Care Center and Summit Place Assisted Living in Bellingham; Arlington Health and Rehabilitation in Arlington; View Ridge Care Center in Everett; Sunnyside Assisted Living in Sunnyside; and recently acquired Puyallup Nursing in Puyallup.
With an entrepreneurial spirit, Jim has amassed incredible experience and business acumen over the years owning/managing various business ventures, from car dealerships to healthcare facilities and non-profits. Just prior to starting Nightingale Healthcare, Jim was the President of Regency Pacific.
When he’s not inspiring or mentoring others, you can find Jim spending quality time with his family or expressing his love for animals, big and small. Jim has seven grown children, 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren (with three more on the way!), four dogs, and a cat.
Pete Wolkin Bio
Pete has played an integral part in the family business for nearly two decades, entering the role of Director of Operations for Nightingale Healthcare in January 2015. In his current capacity, he is responsible for the direction and coordination of Nightingale Healthcare and its facilities, overseeing the company’s overall growth and profitability. Pete gained valuable experience in skilled nursing and long-term care operations, having worked as Administrator in Training at two of the company’s skilled nursing facilities, Mt. Baker Care Center and Arlington Health and Rehabilitation, as well as Director of Operations at a nearby retirement community.
Pete maintains a Certified Nursing Assistant license and certification with the National Healthcareer Association. He received his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Lewis and Clark College.
In his free-time, Pete can often be found skiing, boating, or raising his baby goats. He resides with his wife, Tracey, and daughters, Nia and Oceanna. His fur-babies include four goats (Chai, Bandit, Salty, Lottie), dogs (Penelope and Sheba), and cat (Tulip).
Jennifer Mack Bio
Jennifer first joined the Nightingale Healthcare family as the Administrator for one of its skilled nursing facilities, Arlington Health and Rehabilitation, in 2013. She transitioned into her current operations role for the parent company in December 2016. In this capacity, Jennifer collaborates with each of Nightingale’s nursing facilities to assist with daily operations, providing oversite and support where needed whether its facility financials, electronic medical records, or providing staff education that is determined through facility audits and requests. Jennifer received her Business Management Degree from the University of Washington. She maintains a Certified Nursing Assistant license and certification with the National Healthcareer Association.
In her free-time, Jennifer enjoys riding dirt bikes. She resides in Snohomish County with her husband, Jesse.
Carrie Danielsen Bio
Carrie joined the Nightingale Healthcare team as its Regional Director of Assisted Living Operations in February 2020 after nearly six years of working under the Nightingale umbrella as Executive Director for Summit Place Assisted Living, an assisted living community owned and operated by the parent company. In this new role, Carrie provides effective supervision of and oversees general planning, directing, and coordination for the company’s various facilities, including those located out of state.
Carrie is a seasoned healthcare provider, bringing more than 25 years of practical, professional experience to her new role. In addition to previously directing Summit Place Assisted Living, Carrie honed her skills as a Resident Care Manager for the adjacent Mt. Baker Care Center, a skilled nursing facility also operated by Nightingale. Prior to that, she worked at another area nursing home as its Resident Service Director.
Carrie has been a Licensed Practical Nurse since 1998 and has since completed the LEAD Assisted Living Executive Training Program.
When she’s not caring for our community of elders, she can be found spending quality time with her four grown children and significant other. Together, they enjoy the outdoors, including hiking, traveling, and going to the beach.
Tracey Jaeger Bio
Tracey joined the Nightingale team first as the Director of Nursing Services at one of its skilled nursing facilities, Mt. Baker Care Center, in 2013. She joined the parent company as Clinical Nurse Liaison in December 2018. In this new capacity, she shares her time between Nightingale communities conducting nurse training and education, compliance management, and helping wherever necessary to improve the nursing departments and the lives of the residents they serve.
Bringing with her 12 years as a registered nurse, Tracey has prior experience working in the acute care setting at an area hospital. She also spent a couple years teaching as a clinical instructor for Skagit Valley College’s nursing program. Tracey received her RN from Skagit Valley College in 2007, and her BSN from the University of Washington in 2012 where she is also currently pursuing her MSN.
Tracey loves to spend her down time with family and friends, traveling as much as possible. She and her husband, Pete, and two wonderful teenage daughters have started a hobby farm and currently care for chickens, two dogs, a cat, and seven goats. Tracey loves spending as much time outdoors as she can, tending to her gardens and creating beautiful spaces.
Mary Dash Bio
Bringing with her more than three decades of professional experience as a nurse, Mary joined the Nightingale family in November 2017 as Clinical Nurse Liaison. In this capacity, Mary functions as a clinical consultant to all of Nightingale’s skilled nursing and assisted living facilities, performing audits that assist each facility in identifying areas for improvement, as well as acting as a clinical resource when questions arise.
Prior to joining the Nightingale team, Mary gained valuable experience as a Regional Director of Clinical Operations for a healthcare corporation for 10 years, as well as other high-level healthcare management positions spanning two decades. She maintains a Master of Science degree in Nursing, has National Certification as a Gerontological Nurse Practitioner, is a Certified Restorative Nurse, and is a Certified Wound Specialist.
In her free-time, Mary enjoys decorating her home, shopping, traveling (especially to Europe), and is a huge dog lover with a dream to own a rescue dog shelter someday. She loves her family, including her husband, son, daughter, and beautiful granddaughter.
Susan Kesterson Bio
Bringing with her three decades of professional experience and expertise, Susan joined the Nightingale Healthcare team in February 2020 as its Director of Financial Operations. In this capacity, she oversees all financial operations and directs corporate financial planning and structure for Nightingale and its various buildings throughout Washington State and Oregon. In addition, Susan is responsible for preparing short- and long-term financial forecasts, as well as overseeing audits and tax functions, while maintaining all accounting and administrative policies and procedures for the healthcare management company.
Prior to joining Nightingale, Susan was the Director of Accounting & Reimbursement at CBSI (Consolidated Billing Services Inc.).
In her free time, Susan enjoys hiking, snow shoeing, downhill snow skiing, and reading. She is happily married to her husband of more than 40 years, and is mother to a grown daughter as well as six rescue dogs and two cats.
Joann Austin Bio
Joann joined Nightingale Healthcare as its Office Manager in September 2016, having worked with the Clay family for over 15 years in a similar capacity but at different businesses. At Nightingale, she is responsible for all administrative duties, including banking, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll. Originally from Texas, she received accounting training locally from Bellingham Technical College.
When Joann isn’t working, you can often find her playing a round of golf, flying kites, enjoying the beach, or spending time with her family and friends. She still has family in Texas, but also in Washington and California.
